Nocturne (my own pattern)
Yarn used was Grignasco Tango ( 50% wool, 25% alpaca and 25%viscose) in colours 208 and 211. I used little less than 9 balls of blue and less than 2 of grey. Nocturne was knit with 3 mm needles, the ribbings with 2,5 mm. The details in the sleeves are similar to those of Enid. The inspiration for this came mostly from the recipient herself. She is following her dream and left home this autumn and while visiting her earlier this fall when I had to head back home and leave her there I needed to have this knitting to cling onto. She was my blue baby, the other one of the twins was red. When they were very little the bottles, pacifiers, towels etc needed to be colour coded. The sweater got its name on a calm and moonlit night when I was looking at the lake and saw how the moon light was broken into ripples on the lake. I should have taken these pictures in such a night but here you have to picture the scene in your mind… The recipient loves the sweater and I love them both. I guess I can call this a success.
It is truly gorgeous. You should be proud of yourself. And I'm sure that the recipient will tell you that as well.

ReplyDeleteOh, and I finally finished the Alice Starmore vest that you inspired me to knit. You were right, was a perfectly satisfying knitting experience. However, I'm now experiencing some withdrawal symptoms, missing my lovely fair-isle companion and not sure what to knit next...
Anyway, thank you for being such an inspiration.

Lene, What can I say!!!! The sweater, and the colors of the sweater, seem to reflect the colors in the background waters, rocks and shoreline in the pictures. Fantastic! I like the look on your beautiful daughter, also. Thanks for sharing this knitting experience with us! Jeanie

ReplyDeleteGrace
Just lovely Lene. And it is very well modeled.
ReplyDeleteI, too, would love to know if you plan to make this pattern available someday, though I understand that it's a present and the answer may well be "no, sorry." I'm built on similar lines as your daughter (very thin, long in the arms and torso) and finding sweaters that accommodate that is HARD! Honestly, I can't stop staring at it and visiting the Picasa gallery. it's absolutely stunning!
