Trying to keep the Christmas Spirit alive

There is no denying that today I found myself standing in a queue in a crowded shop and did not have a drop of good will in me but forehead wrinkled was looking at the fellow shoppers... Came home exhausted and annoyed. I guess this was unavoidable and one day like this had to happen in this time of the year.

So when home did not turn the TV on, lit some candles, drank some orange flavored tea (my favorite at the moment), sat on the sofa, closed my eyes and listened to this...

I think I am fully recovered and in peace with the world again.

Must say, Pavaratti (botched spelling, I know) is probably the most heart stopping Ava Maria I have ever heard BUT, this is definetly a close run. Such a peaceful reading you give us all each and every time you give us a glimpse into your world. Thank you, I truly mean that from all of us.

I wanted to thank you for a really wonderful blog and wish you a Merry Christmas. I have been lurking for quite a while, and oddly, what prompted me to comment now was your mention of orange tea. I am currently loving Clipper White Tea with Natural Orange Flavour. Clipper's Indian Chai is also beautiful with its Christmasy spiciness. Available in Finland at least in fair trade shops.

  6. My husband's cousin sang this at our wedding 26 years ago. Thank you for a link that so reminds me of her beautiful voice. :)

Lene, The music and singing was as tranquil as the video accompanying it. One of our favorites to listen to is, Andrea Bocelli. We don't understand a word of Italian, but music seems to transcend all language barriers doesn't. What a way to be kind to yourself after standing in line in a crowded shop. I, too, was shopping today. After putting everything away, I put the teakettle on and fell into my favorite chair to read our daily paper. Lo and behold! In the Wedneday food column was a recipe for Norwegian hazelnut cake with whipped cream and cloudberries! Well, I know what cloudberries are and what they look like! I saw them on your cereal in one of your posts this last summer! You even told us about picking them. The food editor said we can find them here made into a jam or spread. Of course, I am finding out about that....Christmas tree goes up tomorrow and wreath on the door! Peace to you. Jeanie Msla,MT US

  12. That's gorgeous. I was sitting here, pulling together ingredients I need to make musli and pulla (per your recommendations, of course!) and this song suddenly changed a fairly mundane task into a peaceful and happy one. Thank you!

    Caroline from NY

P.S. I'll let you know how the pulla turns out!

  13. Thank you Lene. I too had one of those trying days and was feeling a little depressed when I came up to check your weblog before going to bed. All the stress simply flowed away and left peace. Kiitos my friend.
