Reindeer sightings

It is cold morning, the temperature was -18ºC (0F) when I got up. I doubt if it will raise at all during the day; the sun is so slow in the horizon now that she does not spread any warmth at all. Yesterday, or the day before, when walking the dogs around noon, sun was out, but just barely over the horizon, all the shadows were long on the snow, but golden yellow, truly amazingly beautiful.
This herd was staying put for the most of November in the near-by field that I passed by on my daily walk. The herd was not at all concerned of humans being near-by and kept eating peacefully. But when I had my fellow furry-walkers with me, they would get moving… pretty much the same way like in the next video. Except here they were hurrying on ice in front of the house and we had nothing to do with it.
I suppose these are very much normal sightings for me, but no matter how many times you see them or experience them, it always feels little privileged to be able to live so close to the nature and witness this.

Wool with you,
Lene

Thank you for those videos, Lene! Reindeer are beautiful, mystical beings. How wonderful that you have them living so close to you!

  6. What wonderful sightings! I have never seen reindeer or traveled to the far north. Your descriptions and musings about your home turf are always a delight. Thank you!
