Small needles and thin yarn is my best
medicine. Big gauge might have even stirred up more waves, so tiny gauge was
the only possible solution. I cast on, not thinking too much, not even having
plans to finish this knit. I found only small ball of this red yarn, I have a
feeling that there has to be more somewhere, but since I could not find it, I
said to myself, well... then I will just make one mitten. I just need to get
this red and white on the needles as soon as possible.
What a bliss when I finally settled into my
corner of the sofa (I have a special place where the light is just right) and
watched tv holding small needles and feeling the yarn quietly move through my
fingers. I keep calling this little knit, fingerless mitten maybe, Scandinavian
Christmas in my mind. I know I have read that somewhere not long ago... maybe
there even is a pattern called that.
I was in town today and happened to see
this owl. There was no way I could have walked past him, he practically jumped
into my shopping bag. I look at his face and wonder what he is saying to
me...
Wool with you,
Lene
Lovely writing about Christmas knitting, I feel the same way!
ReplyDeleteOh that little owl is so sweet! I feel the same way about kitting all year round!
ReplyDeleteWow, your mitt is so darling. I love that pattern. I hope you no longer need an escape!

In writing about and photographing your quest for calm, you project that feeling a lot farther than you know. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI also really like small gauge knitting. And I like your double cuffs... Will you show the inside sometime?

ReplyDeleteI absolutely identify with your need to knit at a fine gauge when things are at six's and seven's. I often say that it is knitting that keeps me sane. Thank you for your thoughtful posts.
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous. I hope your family is well. Happy week before Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteHoping your lovely mitt calmed you. It calms me just looking at the softness and warmth.
ReplyDelete"Small needles and thin yarn is my best medicine." I never thought of it this way but that is true for me as well.
ReplyDeletePeaceful healing to you, Lene.

ReplyDeletei've been in that very same place....needing to knit something small (not necessarily needing to OWN it...just knit it) and it has to be with my happy place itty bitty needles. Pure Heaven. Enjoy.
