Hi you, dear you on the other side of the screen! Thank you for coming by and again, for all
the lovely comments.
It is Friday and one more whole week to go
before the celebration. I was today in town, the road was truly very slippery,
there was lots of traffic, mostly slow going. I listened to Christmas carols
and was amazed that I was in a very calm place. I popped into a few shops, with
crazy long queues and still standing there in front of the cash registers, I
managed to maintain the calm place. In every single line, I decided that I
would take it as a challenge to keep the good mood and would just enjoy looking
at people and their hauls. It totally
worked. Once home, I unpacked everything, made myself a cup of hot glögg and
all seems to be fine. And now I am wondering if I am in a storm's eye and that
the wind is going to hit me hard and set me twirling. It should not, as I have already started
holiday cooking (last night) and even though I have not made lists, everything
seems to be sorted in my head. I feel calm but feel very uneasy at the same
time, after all it is one week away from Christmas and I should feel some
panic. And yet there is none. Hmm...
Here are some reindeer pictures to you. I (or
we, the dogs and I) have a problem. There is this little herd that keeps coming
back to this small field to eat and every time we go for a walk, we have to
stop and listen to the traffic because the moment the herd hears us, it will
set a foot and will run over the road, that is in the back ground in the
picture and usually cars drive fast over there.
So far, no accidents have
happened and last week a sign was set on the road to warn about the herd. It
seems to have worked. There are large fields on the other side of the road and
I would love them to stay there, but it has been windy and this small field
provides shelter.
Can you see how well-fed they look now?
I hope you are well and warm, and wool, as
always,
Lene
Lovely photos! Thank you for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteLove the reindeer photos! Blessings to you and your family in the season, and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the reindeer pictures. They remind me of a trip we took to Norway several years ago. Happy holidays to you.

A wonderful post! And the pictures are great!

I am so glad the "calm place" stayed with you. I suspect that you have already handled enough Christmases that you really do have things organized inside your head. I'm so hoping that things remain peaceful every day up to and including Christmas itself...and that your peace can last well into the new year!
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful, aren't you so lucky to live near them.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
I love your posts! It looks to me that you live such a magical place..reindeer!! Blessings to you from Ohio, USA
ReplyDeleteThe reindeer are enchanting. Are they the size of deer or more like elk? Hope you can stay in your calm place because it matters not if we are ready or not. Christmas will come anyway. Happy Christmas to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteAll is calm, indeed! I think it is easy to fall into the trap of panicking about Christmas. However, we always get there and have a lovely time, regardless of how much or how little we prepare.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas.
Love to see 'your' reindeers, ours is quite small in comparison!
ReplyDeleteKeep warm and enjoy the Season Lene!
I just love your blog! Everything, the pictures, the words, the thoughts. Thank you. It looks like one of the reindeer has a collar!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful reindeer! I hope the calm remains and that you and your family enjoy a lovely Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI so look forward to your photos this time of year! Living in a huge city, Christmas often seems so far away. Peace and blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteOMG reindeers, this is why I read your posts,as well as for your wonderful handwork but for your beautiful picture,we expect temps in the 40sC for our Christmas, dinner will be as traditional as I can make it as it may be our last together before the boys start to scatter, boiled pudding in cloth trifle, choc self saucing pudding a special request, roast chicken, crumbed cloved ham, meragues with fruit and cream
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to stay calm too. I'm afraid I'm my worst enemy, because I find it so difficult, I'm always relieved when the Holidays are over. We to have many deer here, as you do Reindeer, and the dog and are without trying to scare into the road. My heart sinks when I hear a car. Here's to a calm and lovely Holiday season!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun it must be to live in the land of Reindeer! Especially this time of year! I didn't see Rudolf in the bunch and although I'm glad to see they are all so plump and healthy looking, I hope they can still get off the ground with Santa,s Sleigh. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love to read your blog. Such a different life to mine, but so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLucky we are !
ReplyDeletethank you

Awesome pictures. I so enjoy seeing them. Many blessings to you during this season and in the new year. I sent an Advent song a day to my adult children this year. I have enjoyed it.
ReplyDeletelooks like they are getting ready for the big flight….is that Santa hiding in the woods?? (seriously, amazing photos..thanks for sharing. the only reindeer I've ever seen have been in a zoo….and after a trip to Kenya this year, a zoo will never be the same)
ReplyDeleteOh, my, I wish we had reindeer nearby! What a beautiful sight, and yes, they do look well fed. Lovely. Keep your calm, all will be as it should be. I am feverishly working on my projects, and feel much the same, but like you, trying to keep calm. It's too much fun to let anything spoil it. Happy Christmas to you and yours! xxoo. JO
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and blog post! I don't panic about Christmas anymore, because the last ten years, my husband had to work and had to be away and I had to work, too. We didn#T get holidays, so: no celebration, no panic...During the first years, it was very hard to get accustomed to that (no celebrating Christmas and sitting alone on Christmas eve) but now, I feel some relief in that when I observe all the stressed people around.-We try to celebrate a little bit before and after Christmas, just when we are together and have the time...
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a peaceful and wonderful season!
I was dragging my feet but this post with the wonderful reindeer photos has put me in the Christmas spirit! Thank you :>)
ReplyDeleteAnd to think we were amazed to see deer in our backyard. Seeing reindeer might just put us over the edge!
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to your posts. You bring an entirely different world to me. Thank you.
Merry Christmas!
Your blog is always a calm place for me. Thank you for sharing the lovely reindeer pictures and the tale of your visit to town. Christmas blessings to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year on your blog, Lene! Those reindeer are so magnificent. Thank you for sharing these photos. I really hope everyone stays safe.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas to you and your family!
Oh, thank you for the wonderful reindeer photos. I sometimes think about you living in such a cold climate and how different life must be there compared to me living on the coast of California. I enjoy every one of your posts. Have a wonderful Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYou always inspire me to be more creative with my knitting. I also live where it is cold for much of the year and knit mittens and socks for my family. I love your blog!
ReplyDeleteHi, Lene. I love your reindeer photos, and have a totally knitting-unrelated question:
ReplyDeleteI notice that the deer seem to have two long dark marks, rather like scars (or brandings) on their shoulders, and that one has a blue collar. Does this mean this herd belongs to someone? Or are they being radio-tracked in some way? Thanks! and Merry Christmas!
Your blog is enchanting. It exudes calm. I came here from Cornflower.
