Wool flowers

The spring is progressing. It has been raining for a few days (melts the old snow quickly) and the temperature has stayed above zero, even through the nights. It has become a habit for me to look at the lake often during the day to see if there are any signs of approaching summer and while I looked at it today to see if the ice is already turning grey I thought that I will take a picture a day for you until the lake if free from ice.

So this picture was taken today and remember that it has been raining for days, so I think that there is plenty of water on ice under the snow already and any day now you can see it.

I checked the weather forecast and even though today is very grey, the sky should clear up later on, which also means that clear night will make the temperature dip under zero again for a few hours. The daylight time is about 17 hours at the moment.

My yard is covered with snow and since there are no flowers in sight, I decided to entertain myself by making one.

I believe this was inspired by the FowerCrazy workshop I am taking. Even though I have not drawn that many flowers (I expected to do more) and am not happy with them at all, I am all the time thinking of flowers and flower shapes and colors.

I plan on making many and am at the moment trying to come up with a good way to showcase them; maybe I will drive to town to buy few small, clay (terracotta) flowerpots . I am making these from Rowan Fine Tweed.

(I am not sure if these are cute or not, I am sort of afraid that when I wake up from this flower craze a week or so from today, I will look at them and wonder what was I thinking when I was making them.  But not yet, I am almost enchanted by them.)

Wool flowers with you,
Lene

I am sure I would be thinking "flowers" and of Spring if I were so surrounded by snow and ice in late April! Your idea of a photo a day is great!

  12. It made me smile. I think it wants to be useful, perhaps as a pin cushion, or a place to hang dangling earrings from.

Certainly it is useful for making people happy.

The flower is wonderful much more beautiful than the plastic flowers my friend uses in her garden. She really can't garden anymore but wanted color. Now I will have to try and knit her one or two or three.
