All wool.
Wool yarn (ok, so one is from alpaca), wool
fleece, wool felt, wool embroidery yarn - six times all over again, because I
could not stop. What does it make me? Wool fool?
And I still could make a few. And I love every single one to a point that
it makes me really silly.
Last week one OnniBunny was born after
another.
I made this first of Ístex Einband.
Then grabbed
some Shetland and so he was born.
Had some Rowan Fine Tweed laying around, and
...
Then numbers four and five. And I still could not stop. One more. Just
one more, because I had to see how easy it would be to felt alpaca.
Now there are six.
And I still have not had enough. While
making them, or more like giving birth to them, as they all are individual and
have their own personalities, I had discussions with them; it was like
each one of them chose their own spots and own colors for faces and I could
almost claim that I had nothing to do with their expressions on their faces. Each
one is different, but charming, and if you ask me, I think that everyone should
have one or a few.
The process was a delightful one, and I
wrote a pattern for it (in my Ravelry store).
OnniBunny is a quick knit, just a
few inches of stockinette in fingering weight. He is stuffed with wool and
felted by hand so there is no guessing, how he will turn out. With time, soap,
warm water and careful massage he will slowly turn into a cute little rabbit.
Wool embroidery will bring out the true happy character.
And special thanks to you for your comments
on Tina's advice. Expression "pussy willows" is about the same in Finnish "pajunkissat" (paju - willow, kissat - cats). I first thought
out the picture in Finnish and hoped that it would translate into English and
was thrilled to see that it would do that beautifully. I have pussy willows
inside but there aren't that many outside yet.
(The little sweater pattern is coming, it
is at the moment off my hands, but will return in a week or two to be published
then.)
Wool bunnies with you this week,
Lene
Thank you for publishing the Onni Bunny pattern!
ReplyDeleteWhile there is snow on your grounds, it will be 84 degrees (F) here today in Georgia, but I think OmniBunny will look happy in the green grass, too! Am looking forward to casting on.
