The sun rose
at 1048am and set at 1334pm. The length of the day was 2 hours and 46 minutes.
No sun today, but LOTS of snow. I know I was wishing for some, but I would like to make a point of saying that, enough is enough.
Gnome-hat
Yarn:
Light fingering weight
Gauge:
4sts/6rows 1cm (10sts/15row 1") in stockinette stitch
Needles:
1,75 mm or size that will give you the gauge
Cast on 18 sts
using the long-tail cast-on.
Divide your
stitches among 3 needles: 6 sts per needle. Join your stitches being careful
not to twist the cast-on. Place a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the
round.
Rounds 1-7: K18.
Round 8: [K4, ssk] 3 times.
Rounds 9-14: K15.
Round 15: [K3, ssk] 3 times.
Rounds 16-20: K12.
Round 21: [K2, ssk] 3 times.
Rounds 22-25: K9.
Round 26: [K1, ssk] 3 times.
Rounds 27-29: K6.
Round 30: [ssk] 3 times.
When you have 3
stitches remaining, cut the yarn leaving a 7,5cm/3" tail. With a darning
needle draw the yarn through the remaining stitches, pull tight and fasten off.
Pull the yarn
ends inside the hat, no need to weave in the ends. Glue the hat to the gnome
head.
Attach a loop of
sewing thread to the hat top for hanging the gnome to the Christmas tree.
All of the gnomes do not have faces, but should you like to make a face, I used coloring pencils to color red cheeks and then added two black dots with Pigma Micron 005 (my favorite!) pen for eyes.
