Today I took my girl to the airport and while the temperature was close to zero I was happy to see her go with a new sweater. This is Fall Colours.
I started from the top with 2,5 mm needles,
switched to bigger needles (2,75 mm) while proceeded with the yoke and added more stitches. The stockinette part is done with size 3 mm.
When I was done with the yoke ribbing, I changed the construction to raglan shaping. (What looks like piping is very easy to do, it is just folded stockinette, but I will try to remember to show you that in pictures in the future.) The little bird is added with embroidery later on.
The sleeves are very long on purpose and I used two different colours for the ribbings.
The hem is steamed so that it pulls inwards just a little bit and is finished with few purl rows.
All in all, I am happy how this turned out. It has this simple and easy feel to it, it is very light and I am sure it will get lots of wear.
I am making progress on the dress, there is plenty of stockinette behind and there is even more ahead... I am nowhere near finishing it next week... which is good because then I don't need to start worrying about what would be the next sweater...
I hope you too are settled in long rows of knits and purls.
Lene

ReplyDeleteSitten kysyn asiaa, joka on mietityttänyt jo pitkään. Onkohan mallejasi myynnissä missään? Sinulla on kauniita sukkia ja muutakin, joka voisi kiinnostaa muitakin kuin minua.
So stylish and the little bird embroidery makes it all the more special. Love the colors, too.
