I see butterflies!

This is how the adventure starts... (yes, this one is green - a new one...). When doing a felting/knitting project you have to be able to foresee, because the item is not nice to look at when knitting and I must admit this phase needs a special kind of determination to get through. Here she is felted and embroidered waiting to get a lining. I found a cardboard box that would fit inside the bag to be able to measure the size of the lining. Here I pinned the lining to the bag to see and correct the fit.
When I was happy with the fit, I unpinned the whole lining and did the sewing by machine. And then finally attached it to the bag by hand sewing. (I'm hopeless in tutorials and find them very difficult to do. There are plenty of good tutorials online, found one very good bag blog few days ago with lots of tips.)
And here she is in all her beauty! No birds, as so many of you suggested, but little butterflies!

Beautiful! I have knitted mine, and as soon as I get my crafting part of the office set up (bigger remodelling going on) I'll start with the lining and then the embroidery. Thank you for being such an inspiration whennit comes to embridery!

  16. They may all be inspired, thrilled, overawed, but I'm just plain FURIOUS down here!!! Yes, mine looked depressing too when being knitted up, but I persevered, believing that the end result would be worth it. You should SEE it! Hideous isn't at all adequate a word. Revolting, repulsive, frightening... all of these might do. Going to post about it later this evening if I can bear to. HOW can you come up with such beautiful results WHILE I FAIL?
    Signed:

This is really cute. Did you embroider the butterflies before or after you attached the lining?

  24. Lene,
Your bag is beautiful! I've looked at this pattern many times and have it on my to do some day list. Embroidering on the bag is a fantastic way to personalize. And the lining job is outstanding. I've been to my stash and I think I might just have enough yarn to cast on!
