Knitpicks podcast

If you have not yet listened to this , you should.

And these are the new socks: Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Solids in Tangerine colourway. I have bought my yarn from Woolly Workshop. The pattern Monkey (again!) and needle size 2,25 mm (US1).

Thank you for all your comments again!
There is one more aspect of the lake that I have not mentioned yet this spring; as I'm sitting and writing this by an open window, I'm listening to the waves breaking by the shore.

  1. Lovely colour!

I'm so envious. It must be soothing listening to the waves! It might be time to get out of the city.

  3. I listened to that podcast and was pleased to hear how 'superwash' wool is processed. There are some great podcasts out there and then some others I listen to as long as I can stand the giggling!
I just might have to knit those socks. I am becoming more pleased with solid colours for socks and not the handpainted colours.
I love the sound of the waves too, especially after a long hard winter!

Yes! I love the podcast too. It's not at all what I was expecting. And doesn't Kelley have a lovely "radio voice"?

The Monkeys look even nicer in a nearly-solid color, I think. And it's so exciting to see you using such a warm, bright orange! ;-)

  9. Oh what a lovely thing to have such sights and sounds at your front door. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful environment with those of us who are sequestered in suburbia!

  10. That is a gorgeous color and more Monkey madness, I love it. I haven't listed to KP's podcast, but it sounds like I need to. Enjoy your trip and your non-knitting as well.

  11. How did you come to live in such a beautiful place instead of in a city or some other crowded location? You really have Monkey mania, don't you? Have you knitted Cookie's Baudelaire socks, also from Knitty? They are pretty addicting, too.

  12. Lovely socks! When spring arrived here in Englnd I was drawn to knitting in orange - it's such a celebratory colour isn't it?

Last night when I went to bed I could hear waves softly crashing and I thought of you and your beautiful lake. Unfortunately for me, I live in an apt. 4 hours from the beach, and the sound was my daughter's alarm clock/cd player that plays soothing ocean sounds. Since mine were fake, I turned them off!

I really like solid colour socks and your tangerine colour is great. I made myself a great pair of red socks awhile back and I love them. I remember wearing red socks as a kid, and I'm sure that's why I like them.Enjoy the gentle splashing of waves on the shore. It's very soothing.

  16. I am a Knitpicks podcast fan, too. I didn't expect it to have so much info useful to spinners, but find that I am learning a lot, useful for both spinning and knitting.

    Your lake is lovely!

  17. Isn't the Woolly Workshop great? Gill is so helpful and so prompt with her posting.

I love that particular CTH yarn too, and am definitely being drawn back more towards solids or nearly-solids instead of constant variegation. I must knit Monkey too, but your Pomotamus in a whiter shade of pale some time back totally seduced me, and they have to come first.

  18. Great colour! Must knit some Monkeys! Do they work toe-up I wonder?

  19. I love seeing Monkey in a near solid colour for once, and such a great warming colour!
I've loved watching the lake thaw with you over the last few months and it's lovely to think of the soothing sounds of waves on the shoreline - enjoy!

Your orange monkeys are fantastic--so many variegated monkeys, so solid are refreshing. Your pomotamus inspired me to a pale apricot semisolid version so monkeys will have to wait!
    Happy spring/summer!
