I'm having difficulties in posting pictures, have been having difficulties since yesterday. Came here this morning hoping for things to be better but no, the same problem continues.
But remember how I was knitting knee-highs last spring and how some of you were hoping for patterns and it never happened. Luckily clever Cookie has set up an online shop where she sells just beautiful stocking and sock patterns. Have you been there yet? Go and see?
There are three knee-highs there. I love them all but I have bought two out of the three. Can you guess the ones I bought?
If you want, you can guess in the comments until Saturday evening. On Sunday I will have a drawing between the ones that guessed right.
There will be three prizes:
The first and the second prize are the same, 100 grams (abt 1000 meters/1100 yards) of Wetterhoff Silvia which is 30% silk 70 % wool enough for a scarf or a small shawl, the third prize is Regia Tweed (5 % viskose, 25 % polyamide, 70 % wool) for a pair of socks. And the colour for all of the items is blue. There was not colour chart availabe online for Silvia - at least I did not find, maybe I did not try hard enough, anyway the number is 911, Regia Tweed colour number is 52.
And in the meantime, lets hope that blogging will be back to normal soooooon...
I hope you can post pictures soon, too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed everything will work out.
ReplyDeleteI haven't followed your blog for very long, so I'm not sure what your taste is, but here is a guess anyway: Rhiannon and Millicent.
I have never knit socks, I've been to busy with scarves and shawls (and that one never-ending sweater that has been in my pile for over 2 years...), but maybe it's time to cast on for a pair. I have a few patterns lined up, but I'm afraid I'll get hooked, lol.
Hmm... I'd guess the German stocking and the Millicent patterns.
ReplyDeleteThis is difficult. :-) Anyway, my guess is Millicent and The German Stocking.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great pleasure too read your blog. I love it
ReplyDeleteMmh... I'd guess the twisted Flower pattern.
Millicent and German is my guess.
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice blog, I read it regularly.
I'd also guess Millicent and the German stocking. Though I'm in love with most of those socks. Cookie's genius!
ReplyDeleteI think you bought Millicent and the German Sock Pattern. And in my oppinion the patterns of your own is in the same class as Cookie's. They are plain gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGerman and Rhiannon, I'd bet. They're all beautiful. I can't wait til I have enough experience to do something like that.
ReplyDeleteI also guess the Millicent and German sock patterns. I haven't seen you knit many cables and Rhiannon seems a bit heavy for your tastes. You prefer things simple or when complex, light.
ReplyDeleteI'm saying Rhiannon and the German sock pattern. But all 3 of them are just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteKeeping my fingers crossed for photo-blogging!
I'd guess the German and Millicent stockings. At least they would be my choices. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm going with German and Rhiannon!
ReplyDeleteLene, I love your blog and love the fact that in Finland there are so many astonishing knitters who keep alive the nordic tradition...
ReplyDeleteAs for the socks, I would guess Rhiannon and Millicent!
I have never tried my hand and knee-highs as I don't think they suit me (I am kinda on the short side) but love to see them on other people!
Keep on knitting and writing about it,
Anamaria
Oh, and I am sure you have seen this, but don't you think Terhi's socks are just fabulous?! http://www.flickr.com/photos/83952633@N00/407639711/in/photostream/
ReplyDeleteAnamaria
Absolotely The German and the Millicent ones.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the new patterns and the lovely knitting time waiting for you when the days are longer and longer up here in the north.
Ulla in Kalix in the north of Sweden
I also think you bought the Millicent an German stocking patterns.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog very much and read here regularly.
Greetings from Joensuu

My guess is also the German and Millicent stockings. If I'm right about either one I hope you'll host a knit along :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, those socks are all so beautiful. If I had to guess though, I'd say you chose the German stocking and the Millicent sock patterns.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing German and Millicent.
ReplyDeleteI'll venture a guess...German and Rhiannon?
ReplyDeleteAll three are beautiful though! I've never seen that site - thanks for the link!
like at least 20 people before me...i am guessing the german stocking and millicent.
ReplyDeletei'm looking forward to seeing if i am actually right
I'm also going to have to go with the German and Millicent, those are real beauties!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the Rhiannon and the Millicent socks.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is Millicent and Rhiannon.
ReplyDeleteHope blogger cooperates soon.
Lynn
I'm not going to guess, but I will say that I admire your restraint at only buying two of the patterns!!
ReplyDeleteA tough one, but I'm guessing that you bought the Rhiannon and the German stocking patterns.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is the Millicent and German stockings. Can't wait to see your next project!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the Rhiannon and Millicent.
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... I would have to guess German Stocking and Rhiannon. I got Rhiannon and Twisted Flower for myself. I struggled really hard with containing myself and not buying every pattern she had! But I'm sure I'll get all of them eventually... Just feels better to spread out the expenses a little. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Lene,
ReplyDeleteHope it's looking like spring is around the corner, way up there north of the Arctic Circle.
I love your blog--and your beautiful work. Truly inspiring!
My guess: German and Millicent.

German ja Rhiannon varmaankin
ReplyDeleteHi, yes I've seen them. I was there drooling last night, actually. My favourites are Millicent. So I guess Millicent and German. The new knitty-pattern, Clessidra, is also really nice!
ReplyDeleteThis isn't easy but I'm guessing the German and the Rhiannon.
ReplyDeleteI guess I have to vote for Rhiannon and German.
ReplyDeleteI'm picking the German Stocking and the Twisted Flower. Both are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI think Rhiannon and German, myself. (I can't imagine knitting a knee-high and then several inches of turn-down cuff too!)
ReplyDeleteJust to be different: the green and blue ones. :)
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are always a treat. Hope the blog demons get sent away soon. I think you purchased the pattern for the red ones and the blue ones. (There were also pictures of 8 different sock patterns and the Rhiannon socks have your name all over them, but they aren't in the selection of three).
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I have no guesses, but I have solidarity for your photo uploading woes. I was unable to post pictures on blogger last night either.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing you got the ones pictured in green and blue. Gorgeous socks!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is the German pattern and the Millicent Sock Pattern.
ReplyDeleteThose really are great patterns thanks I am going to go back there and go shopping. :)
I hope you can post photo's soon. Blogger has been kind of cranky for me this week too.
I'm going with the flow - as my first instinct was German and Millicent.
ReplyDeleteI guess for the German and the Millicent and...we are a lot going for those !
ReplyDeleteAnyway, they are all very good looking !
Esther
Good luck with the photo issue!
ReplyDeleteMy guess for your knee-stockings-of-choice are Rhiannon and the German Stocking. It's a hard call though -- they're all so great!
I would guess Millicent & the German stocking--like so many others. As for the Wetterhoff yarn, am just finishing a second pair of socks in Sivilla--lovely yarn that a friend brought me from Helsinki last fall. And Cookie's patterns are wonderfully tempting!
ReplyDeleteMy vote goes to German stockings and Millicent socks. Whatever you picked, I know you'll do them justice.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing German and Rhiannon. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Millicent and German, too! :0)
ReplyDeleteDelurking to guess on the patterns. They are all beautiful, but my guess is Millicent and German. I was excited to see Cookie's shop open too.
ReplyDeleteCookie's socks are fabulous and I'm going to buy them too! My guess is German and Millicent.
ReplyDeleteWhoops, I didn't go all the way into the website. I change my vote to German and Millicent. The first time I voted for an ankle sock. All are wonderful, by the way!!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Rhiannon and Millicent
ReplyDeleteOhh, wow. If I didn't have a million projects to work on... hehe.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say Millicent and Rhiannon. But all three are gorgeous!!!
Well, I can't be totally sure what you would have gotten first, but I am thinking the German and Millicent patterns are the ones you got first-only because of how both patterns wrap around the leg and foot and yet still have a nice simplicity to them.
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful patterns for socks and I love that she has given so much information about how to size them correctly. I have only knit a few socks and they have all seemed too tight on me because I have a high instep.
millicent and german?
ReplyDeleteWow! They are all beautiful and I'm sure you could do a great job on all of them. How could you choose only two? :-) I'll guess Millicent and Rhiannon.
ReplyDeleteThe Theolonious really cought my eye too. Thanks for pointing out the site!
I'm guessing Millicent and Rhiannon. Love the blog. And the dog.
ReplyDeleteRhiannon seems a bit fussy. i also will go with German and Millicent.
ReplyDeleteI guess Millicent and the German stocking. They would both look great on Dancing Daughter (or on you!).
ReplyDeleteMy guess: Thelonious and Millicent.
ReplyDeleteI made my first sock recently!
I started the second before the first was finished. It is VERY plain, but now I know I can do it.
Thanks for showing us this site!!
Best to you, Lene!
I would guess millicent and Rhiannon.
ReplyDeleteHope we can see pictures again soon, best wishes, Karin
I guess German stocking and Millicent.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, they're all lovely. Thanks for the tip. Now I must go order my own...
I guess Rhiannon and Millicent.
ReplyDeleteI would guess the German stocking and the Millicent. At least those are my faves!! They're all lovely, though. I especially love the foot on Millicent.
ReplyDeleteGerman and Millicent? It's not an original answer, but I am sticking with it. Oh my, I love your work. It inspires me always.
ReplyDeleteI vote for Twisted Flower and German Stockings.
ReplyDeleteI just received a pattern for knee highs from Stitch Diva a couple days ago. Had not thought to knit knee highs but they looked so interesting & I love knee highs in winter.
ReplyDeleteMy guesses are the German for its clean elegant lines, and the Millicent because the swooping pattern up the foot is so different.
i guess Rhiannon and German stocking.. because these 2 really jumped out at me and if I could only chose 2 they would be the ones, but all are indeed goregeous
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for German and Rhiannon.
ReplyDeleteI am getting ready to knit my first ever pair of socks. They will be very plain because I need to figure this out.
I'm thinking Millicent and German, but it's a hard call.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess Millicent and the German Stockings. They are all lovely, but those are the two I'd go for first.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading your column. Your essays about life in Finland and the beautiful things you create are inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI'd guess that you bought the German stocking and Twisted Flower patterns.
Those are delicious patterns. I'd guess the German and Millicent as well. I want to make them all, though.
ReplyDeleteOooops!! I misunderstood the choices. (I often miss the details, leading to interesting changes in knitting patterns).
ReplyDeleteYou didn't mean the 3 socks on the introductory page, you meant the 3 kneehigh socks from the collection, just as you said.
Therefore I will vote that you bought the Rhianon and the German knee high patterns, although I can see Millicent would have been a tough choice too. Marlyce
I guess the German Stocking and Rhiannon. Those are the ones I'm eyeing, anyway!
ReplyDeleteShoot, there are a lot of guesses so far! I'm guessing that you ordered the German Stocking and Rhiannon.
ReplyDeleteI'm going with Millicent and German stockings.
ReplyDeleteBlogger+Safari+Mac = a glitch in uploading photos. It went on for a couple of days and supposedly, it's now fixed. Looking forward to photos!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing German and Rhiannon
ReplyDeleteHmmmm..
ReplyDeleteI'd say German & Millicent.
Don't think the cables are very you.
They all look like a challenge.
Thanks for the link
My best quess is German and Millicent
ReplyDeleteMy guess is you've bought patterns for German socks and Rhiannon socks. But there are loads of lovely socks, you never should have told me this link! (Not really, I'm glad I've found it now!)
ReplyDeletemy guess - the german stocking & the rhiannon stocking. i bought rhiannon for myself - it's so beautifully designed! whatever you make i hope you post pictures - your work is always so inspiring! xo
ReplyDeleteI'd like to guess Millicent and German.
ReplyDeleteI am a long time reader and lurker of your blog. I admire the beautiful work you do, and thoroughly enjoy your descriptions of life in your part of the world.
Thank you for sharing!
German & Millicent. [And I decided on those two before I looked at the comments. Looks like those two got a lot of votes!]
ReplyDeleteGerman and Millicent! (they are the ones I chose to order!)
ReplyDeleteLene, I would have just given up and ordered all three knee-high patterns. But having suffered a brief lapse into self-restraint, I'm just looking at them (several times a day) with awe and longing. . .
ReplyDeleteGerman Stocking and Millicent Sock.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link I see a few patterns I would like to knit.
Wow! giving away yarn is a sure way to get a lot of comments!
I'd guess Rhiannon and German, though you've already made a pair much like Rhiannon haven't you?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is Thelonius and Gothic Spire stocking patterns.
ReplyDeleteMillicent and Rhiannon...those are my faves...love your blog Lene! I especially love your drawings.
ReplyDeleteMillicent and German are my pick. Both look quite interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think you chose Millicent and the German Stocking. All of Cookie's socks are wonderful so any choice would be a great choice!!
ReplyDeleteNot an easy choice! I, too, think you probably chose the German stockings and Millicent socks, because Rhiannon looks so heavy. But then again, you have a daughter who needs warm feet and legs... however, I am sticking with my guess!
ReplyDeleteTess in upstate New York, USA
(who probably isn't the only person who placed an order with Cookie today after reading Lene's blog...)
German on selvä juttu, mutta toiseksi arvaan kyllä Rhiannon.
ReplyDeleteKiitos hyvästä blogista, hyvin sommitellut ja kauniissa miljöössä otetut kuvat tuovat blogillesi huolitellut tunnelman.
Well, Lene, my guess is for Millicent and the German stockings, although all three are quite brilliant.
ReplyDeleteMillicent and Rhionnan. So enjoy your blog. You are a gifted fabric artist!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you but I like the red and blue. The Red reminds me of the stocking Elizabeth Zimmerman knit for her daughter, I think hers were done in green.
ReplyDeletethanks for the link.
I am having server problems too. Blame it on the moon.
Miriam
I join the gang and say German and Millicent. Those socks are all gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWell, my guess is Millicent and Twisted flower sock patterns. Best of luck with which ever you will be knitting!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is Millicent and German. They are both fabulous! (the others too, but still!)
ReplyDeleteIt's a big pleasure to read your blog and follow your fantastic knitting!
I'm guessing German stocking and Millicent. Very, very nice patterns indeed!
ReplyDeleteOf the three on the home page, I guess the one on the left and the one on the right. They are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I just love your blog and read it regularly. Your writing and photographs are so poetic and artistic... My husband is Finnish so in addition to the knitting I especially enjoy your references to the Finnish landscape, weather, and culture.
ReplyDeleteMy guess would be the German Stocking and the Millicent Sock.
I think that you most likely chose German and Millicent.
ReplyDeleteRhiannon is beautiful too but the cables look very thick for a sock so I don't think you would have chosen that pattern. Helena
I'm guessing german and rhiannon!
ReplyDeleteHope you'll be posting pictures soon again - they are lovely.
heidi (number 2, since there already is one in this ruffle)
Lene, yours is the first blog I read, and sometimes the only one.
ReplyDeleteYour work and your words leave me inspired and help to calm my hectic life.
I am glad you came back to us after that first issue with weaving the lovely (by any standards) scarf.
Blogger can be sooo annoying, can't it? I often have trouble, especially since the move to the 'new and improved' blogger. I hope you can post pictures soon!!
As to my guess about Cookie's sock patterns, I would say Millicent and Rhiannon because those are the two I will be getting. How can anyone NOT buy those?!!?
Have a WONDERFUL day!!!!
All Cookie's patterns are gorgeous, but I'm only a newbie sock knitter and it'll be a while before I feel confident enough to tackle those!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is Rhiannon and Millicent. Whichever you chose, I look forward to seeing the results!
You have about a million comment this entry, so I don't know if you'll get to this, but I have ome advice for blogger. I had trouble posting pictures a couple of day ago too. I renamed my pictures, and tried posting them again, and it worked!
ReplyDeleteEither we all know you well or you are going to surprise us all, but, I, too, am guessing the German stocking and the Millicent sock pattern. All look wonderful, though, and I can't wait to see what you make. I always enjoy seeing your projects.
ReplyDeleteI'm also going with German and Millicent (mainly because that's what I'd choose -- if I couldn't pick them all, that is ;*) I hope blogger works better soon; I'd love to see them as you work on them...
ReplyDeleteArrgh... Seems it's me having bloglines difficulties -- for whatever reason, bloglines listed that as a new post and I didn't look at the date before I commented. Now I'll have to search a bit to see which patterns you actually had and how the socks turned out (well, lovely, I'm sure, but I still want to see!)
ReplyDelete
