Finally...

We had some snow. Shoveling scheduled for tomorrow but that is fine. The day gets longer about 3 minutes a day at this time of the year - I have been told.

And I found myself a new winter coat. I don't like shopping. I try to be quick - Laurie, I think I made myself a new record today!

And I got my little hands on Socks that Rock yarn that has been praised highly around the knitting blogs. The colour is beautiful, it is Falcon's Eye. This is lightweight but it felt a bit too thick for socks. So I cast on for a scarf. I knit for a while but was not sure of the feel until I blocked it. But now can see and feel the beauty.

Easy, yes, but I did say I would add colour to my knits this year and that might not be easy here because I have only one colourway of this yarn. (If you look closely you can see one stitch in the middle of the picture that is sort of red - there was a little fleck in the yarn - but I don't think that would count...) January 3rd and already being tested on the resolution...

Love the tones in that green. Don't think it needs any added colour.

This is lovely: very good definition and as Mary Jo says, many tones. Your little embroidered bird can add whatever extra colour you choose!

  3. I think the STR is excellent for a scarf. I think I shall do the same with the skien of Mustang Sally I recently received. Do you know, the color matches your blog? What color is your new coat?

  4. I like the idea of adding color with your trademark label.

  5. I also love the STR yarn (and the litte hidden flecks of red!), although I don't mind the weight for socks. I will be very interested to see what size scarf you can get with 1 skein of the STR. I hope that you will post specifics on that.

As far as the green on your blog goes, I must admit that the first time I saw it it was a bit shocking (!), but I am growing used to it. It is light and "Spring-y" :)

    Enjoy the growing sun!

  6. I like the colour, and does it go well with the new coat? I am going to start my 'Not So Warm Coat" from Sally Melville this Sunday for a KAL, but it would not be warm enough for your climate. I think the "teeny" dash of red is a start, Lene, but I know you will show us some wonderful colours this coming year. I always enjoy your blog!

  9. I have to disagree with those saying they like the green! I love your blog!! Best one I have found and the first I check! :-) BUT!!! YUCK on this green color! Sorry! Your knitting deserves a better color around it. I miss the old set up. This new one just doesn't do your work justice.

Happy New Year, Lene! I look forward to reading your blog for one more year!

I haven't tried this yarn yet, and since I am destashing, looks like I may not for a while. Although since it's sock yarn, it fits one of Wendy's caveats, doesn't it? This color is one that I have been attracted to for the past couple of years, and people tell me it looks nice with my slightly pink skin!

Color solution - stitch your bird motif in a corner in a nice bright color. No one else may ever notice, but you'll know it is there. Enjoy your snow!

Your muffatees are beautiful! I haven't had a chance yet to even touch quiviut, let alone buy any. My opinion on your green template--well, I kind of liked the old look better. But your writing, pictures and knitting are what we are all here for. Happy blogging in 2007. Hey, I saw some horses today, and my dog (and no cats.)
