Small is beautiful

I just love these days in between Christmas and normal life. All the hurrying of holidays is done and the normal life is there around the corner but not just yet. We had guests on Christmas Day and Stephen's Day but now all is very quiet and not much is happening. I can sit by the fire, have candle light and just stop in my thoughts or take a book or a knitting or a quiet walk. There is this never ending housework but now can be done off rigid schedule since children are off school. Kille and I are dreaming here side by side. He is dreaming of better hunting times when spring comes and I'm dreaming with these colours. Here is my box of crayons... (This is Shetland spindrift in the fore ground. Two Swans Yarns carries full colour range in US and they have also the beautiful mitten yarn Finnish Satakieli.) and here is the Starmore book, there is a tea mug, dictionary, tape measure, some Pirkka yarn, two knits that we won't mention because they are going to the frog pond and notice the small basket on the left and the size of it compared to Mr Cat. I tried to arrange the desk a bit and lifted the basket to the floor and this happened later on. He managed to settle in there and took a long nap.

While he was napping I was putting some beads onto a yarn.

This is one luxurious (of qiviuk colour 1654) beaded muffatee from Windy Valley. I enjoyed it from the first stitch to the last. First Bohus cuffs and now these muffatees.
I'm finding a lot of joy in these small items.

Lene, the muffatees are beautiful. I can only imagine how sensuously soft they must feel.
You are very fortunate to have Kille as a supervisor. He looks very much in command of things.

  5. Kille looks quite comfortable. I love the way cats will make themselves at home anywhere. The beaded mufatee is qute elegant. I am glad you enjoyed making it.

We are enjoying the suspension between Christmas and the normal pattern of our lives here too.

My stash is not quite as big as your lovely collection, but I received lots of sock yarn for Christmas. I keep admiring it but haven't made anything yet. Why is it that cats like to curl up in a box or basket that is much smaller than they are?

  9. You should name that photo of the yarn--"a knitter's dream?" "colored clouds?" "woolen rainbow?" It's so pretty...

  11. The muffatees are gorgeous. I've just started my first qivuik lace scarf. I'm doing a "practice swatch" pattern from "Arctic Lace". Was the bead work difficult? It really adds a touch of class to an already sophisticated pattern.

I have a twin to your kitty--all the way over here in the southwestern most part of the United States. My Harrison has yellow eyes and the pinkest toe pads--how about your Kille? Melissa in El Cajon, California

  14. I like your way of looking at these "in-between" days. They do seem to take on a slower pace of grace.

I have just discovered your blog and I am really enjoying it! I have a question for you about your New Year's resolution to sign all your knitting with a bird. I am wondering if you can explain to me exactly how you make the bird. I am a knitter, not a stitcher, so am clueless as to how to try this myself. Thanks!
