Under the weather

When the weather gets nasty, like lots of rain and wind, Tina won't come out of her little red house. You can see her peeking through the opening but she stays inside curled in the hay in a dog like manner. It is like she is saying that she rather not be a part of the world but only a spectator.

The weather forecasts predict that central Finland will be swept by a storm during the next 24 hours which for us in the northern parts will bring more snow and strong winds. This week had lots of chores and I feel a bit wiped out.

I will go and ask if Tina would kindly move a bit and let me crawl into her little red house... (This picture is from last winter, we only have very thin layer of snow now.)

Congratulations on finishing Katariina's body! Looks great! The wall behind looks interesting, is it for projects you plan? Is the second knit picyure a mitten or a new sleeve or...

Good morning, Lene, I was just thinking about your weather before I clicked on your link. I am still in the dark, here, up early for a day of washing old ladies and installing wood flooring. I like the picture of the wall of inspiration you show. I need to empty some wall space. My inspirations are mostly in drawers and folded up and put away.

Yes, interresting wall! Are those cuffs? And I'm also very curious as to what that second knitting project is. And Katariina looks fab, no surprise, we knew that already!

    Lene,
I have just discovered your blog through Francesca at Fluffbuff, and I'm so glad I did because it's wonderful!
It is very grey and wet here in Scotland but your words and pictures are truly brightening up my morning. Thankyou.

  5. Friday is a tiring day somehow. After a busy work week it is nice to know the weekend is here and we can rest and relax a bit.

I love picot edging, on socks, mittens or sweaters. I wonder what you are making? Our weather here in southern Ontario is about average for the end of October,it's cool and we've had a few snow flurries. Yesterday we had lots of sunshine, and at recess the children were trying to sneak their jackets off.

  7. I know many people who exhibit the same behaviour Tina does, when a storm is around... nature cuts a across the species.
    :-)
love the dark purple and blue combo.

  8. Kateriina is looking great! She will be a regal lady indeed.

I like the wall behind Kateriina too. Does the cat really leave your wool undesturbed?

Maybe you can take a rest and someone else could do some of the cooking for you this weekend?

  9. Lovely photos as usual! I hope you weather the storm okay. Sounds like a good opportunity to find a cozy spot and knit!

So glad your chores are done for the week, with the weather coming and all, (I'm with you just a bit on squeezing in with Tina) I'm hoping that now you'll be able to nestle in for some good knitting days. Katariina looking stunning as usual.
And what's that new project? more of the twining? Love.those.colours.
    Wishing you a lovely weekend!

  11. How cozy! My dog would love something like that - though he is spoiled and gets his own chair with a big cozy comforter he makes a nest in!

those picot top socks look great! Nice color combo!

  12. It looks like you're almost done with your Katariina sweater, it's beautiful! Is that the start of another twined sweater?

  13. Katariina is stunning! So close!!!
A silly question, is Tina a bunny? Sometimes it's better to watch than participate!

You should only move in with Tina IF she has enough room for knitting or possibly embroidery. You might also need a light. I'm sure she would love the company unless she's poked too many times by a moving needle!

  15. Katariina is looking well! Will there be embroidery on the body of the sweater, as well as the sleeves? I would love a close up of your wall, as it appears you have lots of pictures there for inspiration!
I think we could all move in with Tina or our own dogs from time to time. They certainly take resting to a high level!

I love the yarns and colors of your new project. Of course, I loved the yarns and colors of Katarina, too. We knitters are a fickle sort.

I'm chiming in on the request for a photo expose of your creative wall. There are some interesting stories there, I'm sure.

I like the square neckline on your sweater, and I love the color.

    The purple-and-green mystery looks luscious.

Have you started a new twined sweater? You just couldn't get enough? ;-) what is the purple sleeve-looking thing?

Lovely looking Katariina, you must be really close the end now. Just in time for winter.

  19. The knitting looks lovely, but I am very drawn to the details of your wall of inspiration in the background. I thing I see some cork-board and push-pins in my future.

  20. Yes, yes! Show us the wall behind the dressform! I love to see the inner workings of other knitters...

The body looks great, by the way. And please don't crawl into the doghouse - we'd miss you out here! And I'm sure Tina would object to the needles and yarn you'd have to bring along.

Beautiful Lene; certainly worth all your hard work.

  22. Oh do I know that feeling about wanting to crawl in with the dogs! Here, when it gets really wretchedly wet and rainy, I say it is ideal weather for the 'hot press' (or airing cupboard as the English call it). When I was little I used to crawl into among the warm dry sheets and towels and curl up in the cosy dark. Still feel like doing that sometimes. You need some quiet time to spoil yourself, Lene love.

  23. I can so relate to your Tina story.
My dog Scout doesn't have a hay-lined house, just a sort of fleecy pillow with walls, but when the going gets tough I still want to crawl in there with her.

  24. Tina's got the right idea. Crummy weather is time to cozy up someplace comfy!

  25. Tins is a very wise dog. And those colors are so pretty together! Looking forward to seeing what you're doing...

Katariina looks so lovely already, you're doing an amazing job with it! I hope that storm won't hit your area too bad, perhaps it'll just pass by - fingers crossed! We still have summerlike temperatures here in Austria, about 28 degrees Celsius - but we're aware that winter is just around the corner! Stay warm!

Who can blame her? I'd like to crawl under the duvet when it gets cold but it's hard to knit from there.

  28. hei Lene!

"onnittelu" on finishing Katrina's long body!
    (did I say that right?)
I can't wait until we get snow that stays around awhile here.
I do love winter and would like to come share Tina's house too!

  29. Katariina looks so lovely. I love the mix of the dark charcoal color with the bright blue/green it makes a beautiful contrast.

We had a Keeshonden for many years. From everything we learned about our dear friend he was bred to be a Dutch Barge Dog and yet when it rained he wanted nothing to do with it!! Ironic. Our friends, they know what they like and what they don't.

  30. ooh that purple-green combination is really prety. and wow, katarina is a lot longer than i thought. what a feat!
