New world in the morning is today

My lake very early in the morning today. Since then the sun has climbed higher and the whole world up here is golden yellow. Last night the temperature dropped down below freezing. Soon I'm off to town to run errands and then it's weekend with the twined knitting. I'm hoping to be able to devote many many hours to knitting.

I top off this lovely sight with a treasure...

This is the beautiful yarn basket from Dave at Cabin Cove that arrived at my house yesterday.

Could one possibly ask for more?

You all have a good week end!

Lene, I always love reading your blog. It doesn't just talk about or your knitting, but communicates the majestic peace of your surroundings and the quiet that comes with the simple work of handmade things. Such a welcome change in my busy life! Kiitoksia paljon.

  9. I so enjoy it when you post photos. I can imagine sitting by the lake sipping my coffee, in a large mug just hot enough to keep the bite of chill in the air from being uncomfortable.

  10. It looks like the weekend will be great- as will mine, hopefully. The sun is shining and the air is warm, and the knitting is tempting ;-)

What a peaceful view! I am a city girl, but I could live in a place like that! And thanks for your visit, Lene!

Aaah, frost. Here at 60N in Alaska, we haven't had frost yet but the line is visibly creeping down the mountains and lake smoke and wood fires are part of our mornings too, now. It's a good time to think of wool again.

  14. So, is this the yarn you have been watching the mail for? It's lovely. And so is your lake. I'm a city girl, like Luisa, but live within easy walking distance of our Great Lake. There's something about water, isn't there?

  15. Ooh! Dave does wonderful yarn. I have some of the merino-tencel in a gorgeous, almost luminous charcoal.

It's amazing for me (here in the part of the world where season changes are incredibly subtle) to watch your seasons there. So beautiful. So much change.

I know the world is big, but sometimes is startles me that it can get so cold so early in the year. What a beautiful place, though!

What could be lovelier than a dock, a misty lake, and a basket full of yarn?
Perhaps a comfy chair on the dock and knitting needles in hand, ready to cast on some of that scrumptious yarn. Oh, and a cup of hot coffee and some pulla. That would be heaven.

  24. Lovely. Very restful. (At least for those of us who aren't thinking quite yet about hauling in wood and stoking the fires.)

  25. What beautiful pictures of your lake!
It is almost time to break out the doggie sweaters for the morning walks. I think I may have to knit Elise a new one this year.

P.S. Oh how lovely a basket full of sock yarn is~

  27. The lakes pictures are just so dreamy looking...and the yarn looks mighty good, too.

No frost here in western New York state yet, but probably before the end of the month. The summer was so nice that I'm thinking fall will be short and winter early.
