You may well call this blog DwFool (if you already haven't done so - thank you J!) from now on because I simply love twined knitting... It does not bother me one bit to keep untwisting the yarn and I'm well aware that this sweater is going to take an eternity to finish. I'm prepared. I have a long winter ahead and lots of fire wood.
Here is the first sleeve hugging the embroidery yarn for the cuff. This is going to be a sweater (after all) with embroidered cuffs (again). I have some vague idea of the design for the cuffs and these are the beautiful little skeins that I'm considering...So this is all for now, I wonder if you are prepared to see orange and red over and over again...
How clever of you. Lovely warm colors to liven the long cold.
ReplyDeleteI am prepared to see anything you knit. Everything you do is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYES, we are prepared!! Please show updates all the time, we won't complain, promise. And you know what - you could start the embroidery already - just to give us a break from the red and orange...
ReplyDelete;-)
I love the subtle colors - soft without being pastel.
ReplyDeleteTeals, turquoise and acid-y greens are nice too. I tend to like bright colors and love red, purple and pinks. It might be why I like zinnias so much. It looks fantastic and very warm.
ReplyDeleteI believe you will also be showing us some pictures of snow, so you can add blue and white to the list of colors we will be seeing.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to any twined knitting pictures you show, while I knit on the green socks that I am making because of your tips!!
ReplyDeletethat embroidery thread looks beautiful! I can't wait to see the sweater finished (no pressure!) I haven't heard of twined knitting before...I must have been living under a rock hah

ReplyDeleteThis is going to be so much fun to watch!
I'll be waiting to see your progression. Looks like it will be beautiful
ReplyDeleteLene your sleeve is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of wool are you using for the sweater?
...and do you have any tips for keeping the 2 wools from twisting so much while you are knitting.
I love the rainbow of colors you have chosen for the stitching.
I can't wait to see what design you create for the embroidering.
Thanks for link to the embroidery thread!

ReplyDeleteI do love your colors!
I for one can never get tired of red and orange. :-) But does this mean that your love affair with blue has come to an end?...
ReplyDeleteThose cuffs are going to be very elaborate, I think, with so many lovely colors in them.
I'm always ready to see orange and red - I love that combo! And I salute your twined knitting!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I'd like to know more about the hand of the twined knitting. Can you describe it for us a little bit? And quite a while back (I've been enjoying your archives) you mentioned a favorite embroidery book, but I haven't been able to find out more about its contents or a source to purchase it. When you have time, could you post a little more about this too? Beautiful embroidery done on beautiful knitting -- so elegant. Tnx for sharing.

Wow, I looked up what twined knitting was, and it does sound time consuming, but given the winter temperatures where you live, I can see why you would want to do it. It looks like it would create a very warm fabric :)
ReplyDeletejust beautiful !
ReplyDeleteThe colors for the embroidery lay like the colors on an artist palet waiting to create a masterpiece
