Weary Friday

When I said that this will be a busy month, this is not what I meant... I meant more like garden and school activities.

Two out of my three girls came down with nasty flues... the living room is echoing constant coughing and sneezing and there are tissue papers, glasses and plates all around... and there are the Simpsons. My children love the Simpsons. We have few complete seasons (I think three or four) and this is some kind of a marathon - the hours of the day have been measured by the episodes. Having two sick at the same time is not that bad, now they keep company to each other and somehow they seem to share a feeling of being in the same sinking boat and there has been no pickering about anything. And they have been quite content as long as the service has been there and kept changing dvd's.

The little dog run away today. I was calling and whistling and walking and calling... If you have a dog you know how so frustrating it is. And the neighbors... I really felt sorry for them when I for the 1000th time shouted the dog's name and still no sight of the beggar... I'm sure they have said few prayers for her too... Finally she came and is now sleeping exhausted.

I have made some progress on Mary's socks. The first one is almost done.
Some spinning has happened, and this must be because of all the nice wools I have been seeing... And I completed the first one of the twined mittens. But I'll write more next time. I have had this head ache all day long and I think I will call this a day and go to bed. (I'm probably going to have a nightmare of Mr Burns sleeping next to me.)

Enjoy your week end!

What a beautiful mitten! I really, really loves embroideries on mittens, perhaps I shouls learn the twined technique just for that. You are surely familiar with the book "HĂ„ndplagg till bunader og folkedrakter", about Norwegian mittens? It's lovely, and your mittens do every time you show them make me think of the book.
We have only one season of Simpsons, and our younger son makes awfully good imitations of Burns, just talk about giving you nightmares!

  4. Oh dear, there's not many things worse than a spring cold. Hope all of you are on the mend. Also sorry to hear about your Simpson's marathon; I can watch it for a 1/2 hour, but more than that might drive me over the edge!

Gorgeous mittens! You knit/twine the prettiest mittens.

  5. You poor lass - hope your family feels better soon and Mr Burns never materializes! How funny that they get through this using the Simpsons. Laughter is the best medicine!

I'm so glad my pictures got you spinning again! How funny, because your pictures last week made me get out my twined knitting book and do some research!

We must be on the same wavelength.

I can see how thick and warm that mitten is, just perfect for winter in Finland. I hope you're not coming down with what your daughters have. Take care, and get some extra rest. If I lived near you, I'd come and make you some tea!

  11. Beautiful mitten! The work at the top is like a quilt pattern! Is it embroidered?
Sorry the girls are sick - when they start to 'bicker' with each other a bit, you know then they are on the road to recovery!
Take care of yourself and I hope you don't catch their flu!

Please feel better soon. Drink plenty of water, and sleep a lot. I wish all of you a plate of hot, slightly salty chicken soup, with nice thin egg noodles and lots of carrots.

  19. Your mitten is fabulous! Do your girls like being sick together? My two girls are 15 years apart, so they never really had the opportunity to be sick together. My youngest likes to do craft activiites when she is sick--if she can sit up. I hope you have some sunshine to bake the illness out of your girls!
