Very warm Sunday

As I said Friday we were expecting a very warm weekend and it truly has been one. While I was sipping coffee and knitting outside I saw Miss B doing spring cleaning. She had tossed out everything from her small hole that flooded in the fall. She does that every spring like all the badgers do. Miss B enjoys all kinds of handicraft and now it was a good opportunity to get a photo of her small quilts and a woven carpet.

I noticed later that the door of the little green house was open. My heart jumped of joy because I knew it could only mean one thing...

I saw this tiny rake...Looked around and there she was...
busy already! She had a little bucket of water in her left paw and was wearing her gardening apron with all the necessary gardening tools.
And she explained to me in detail what she was going to plant and what plants had to move and that she was trying something different this summer. She really was not expecting any answers, it appeared to me that she was more or less talking to herself... But I love to share my green house with her and now that I know she is there I want to spend more time there too. She does not knit much but does beautiful basketry.
This weekend was already too hot for Miina.

  1. How funny! Every gardener needs a friend in their greenhouse. You can tell Mina that our Airedale, Gypsy, doesn't care much for really warm weather either.

Your little friends are adorable! My labrador, Purdy, is 12. She likes it when we put on the air conditioning in the summer, which is a necessity here, as it can be very hot and humid. But being a faithful and loving dog, she will follow if I go into a warmer part of the house, just to be near me. We float ice cubes in her water bowl to cool her off. She will swim a bit at the cottage if coaxed, but prefers to just stand in the water.

  4. I cannot believe that Miss B actually has her very own gardening apron and tools. She is a wonder!

Oh, Miss B., your quilts will smell so nice on your bed tonight! It is a good feeling to go to the greenhouse in the spring. I have a greenhouse, but no helper! Perhaps I will have to rectify that problem! Isn't that 'earthy' smell in the greenhouse just wonderful!

Yes, the weather has been glorious all over Scandinavia this weekend. I live in Denmark, and on my nose are the first freckles this year. The doors to the balcony are still open (almost 9pm!) and several plants have been planted in their outdoor pots today. Wonderful.

Your little friends are lovely, both Miss B and the porcupine!

    (waving hello to them)

  7. I haven't posted before, but have been hooked on your lovely blog for quite some time. My heart went with you on your travels last month. Your beautiful, sometimes whimsical, always heartfelt writing has brought me light in my own darker moments. So... just wanted to say Welcome Home. And I'm so pleased to see your garden friends.

  10. Seeing your friends, I had a huge smile on my face!
Until I saw Miina. She looked so sad that it made me frown and get wrinkly worry lines on my forehead :-(
I think she needs to go cool off in the lake.

  11. What wonderful little households your friends must keep! A greenhouse sounds like a lovely sanctuary. Such a thing is not to be on our small, crowded, shaded property.

  12. LOL! Miss B is so cute! I love her little gardening apron. It is already hotter than my golden retriever Otis would like here as well. He's enjoying his swims now that the ice is gone but that is the only part of summer he prefers.

  13. What a lovely post! It reminds me so much of the life I imagine Beatrix Potter must have lived--or perhaps Tasha Tudor.

I am enjoying your blog so much!
