Rather be walking today

Someone had put diamonds on the birch tree this morning... This beautiful tree and the blue sky (and Tina) kept telling me that forget the knitting and come out.
So we went for a walk and she practically flew on the ice. Until I told her to come closer. And she was looking at me asking you don't mean it, do you.
And it seems to me that finally we have the words come and go all cleared up. So when I tell her to come she doesn't think I said go to her...
When the time to head for home came and I said to her that I don't want to keep walking for the rest of the day and that I'm going to work with wool she promised to me that I would choke on it sooner or later...
Sometimes it is difficult to work with something without a pattern but with some ever changing image in my head. There are times when the image is so strong that I can't wait to get it done but sometimes I have to convince me to carry on. This small cardi-to-be falls in the latter category. I'm not sure if it is such a good idea anyway to have it this short...It would have helped if I had made a muslin first but did not want to. I said to myself, this is going to be such a small cardi, it is too much of a trouble to make a muslin. And now second-guessing while knitting is quite tiresome. And I just haven't made up my mind how to proceed from here...
And Miina is sleeping unaware of the turmoil going on right next to her.

This is what I had in mind in the first place... It might be gone by Friday or then again maybe not. Maybe Tina is right. We should wake up Miina and take another walk.

I am looking forward to seeing this Beauty finished... I particularly love the bottom edge.

I know what it is when you talk about images wandering in front of your eyes: it's obsession! I get it also for my projects... A new one should be weaving? You do a lot of that in Finland, don't you?

Thank you for showing a photo of the cardigan being blocked. Every little bit helps me learn another peice to the puzzle. The leaf pattern is so feminine.

  4. That's a great idea to use that foamy pad for blocking. I've been using my dining room carpet, covered with towels, but I always worry about color bleed-through onto my carpet! I think the foam pad is a much better idea. Where did you buy it? Chelle

  5. My dogs would love all that open space to run. But they would probably compeletely ignore me when I told them it was time to go. It's so nice to see dogs happy just being themselves.

  6. Knitting vocabulary! Now those are some very useful words to know.

My first thought, upon seeing the cardigan in progress: "hey, wait, that isn't blue!"

  7. I love your drawings. Very nice.

I was thinking about your stockings last night, and one thing I really like about them is the way the foot/heel is integrated into the rest of the sock. Sometimes sock heels seem to be completely separate, design-wise, from the rest of the sock, but not yours. Good work.

Love your drawings and await the outcome of the new project! I live in the Pacific Northwest - Vancouver Island, Canada - and now I want to do a Pacific Northwest Shawl after seeing yours! There is a Finnish gal in my knitting group and I am going to ask her for help in knitting Continental style! Love the tree diamonds!

  9. I like your tree diamonds! You can see the smile on Tina's face as she is running toward you.

Your Curry Cardigan. Beautiful, deep color! I am glad you are knitting for Pi's Mother. That sure was Quite a story! Are you going to read Moll Flanders next?

I just love your yellow and green Stockings!

  11. Tina is beautiful!

Oh, I know what it's like second-guessing yourself while working on one project, and it IS exhausting. The cardi looks beautiful, even being blocked. Yes, very feminine, as someone else said.

Hi Lene, Your cardi looks lovely. I know how it is to have a vision of what you want something to look like, but you're not quite sure how to get there. By the way, I have a female Lab who looks a lot like your dog. She is so sweet and gentle but very lazy. Today I worked on my first toe up sock. Oh, the toe was so hard to start. I used the figure 8 method to start. Its going okay now. I am sure you are very good at toe-ups. Could you come and live next door to me so I can run over with my knitting?

I also have a Tina, although his name is Hakko (he's our fourth finnish spitz or however they're called in English). ;)
